Info

Videoclip of the single “Mátalos y vuelve” by the instrumental band Los Misterios. A mixmedia production that experiments with video, collage, illustration and stopmotion.

Based on the iconic album cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles. Being an instrumental band, the song lacked lyrics that conditioned a concept to represent or a narrative. So I decided to put world icons of cinema, pop culture and music sharing the scene with the members of the group.

Technically limited by budget we were unable to access a set with chroma to shoot video scenes and post-produce them. Taking advantage of the studio photo session that the band did to promote the album, I photographed sequences of images that I used to animate them later.

Other graphic elements were animated using stopmotion and frame-by-frame illustration to compose a digital collage that had the same latency. The newsprint was photographed individually and later composed in the different scenes of the video clip.

The illustration is another important part of the graphics of the video clip.
Following the latency of the stopmotion scenes, the shapes were drawn frame by frame to later sequence them and imitate the latency of stopmotion animation.

The band needed to make an impact on their social media profiles to promote the album’s release. We segmented the scenes of the video clip and isolated them into individual posts that functioned as infinite loops and revealed a countdown with the days remaining until the video clip premiere.
